Project

Promoting Inclusive Media and Combating Discrimination

A participant speaking into a handheld microphone during a training session

MDH delivered a capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening inclusive, ethical, and responsible journalism among media professionals in the Mudug Region.

The programme engaged 25 journalists and focused on the role of the media in addressing discrimination and improving the representation of minority, marginalized, and vulnerable communities.

Participants examined how language, editorial decisions, framing, and media narratives can influence public perceptions and contribute either to inclusion or discrimination. The programme encouraged journalists to avoid harmful stereotypes, promote balanced representation, and provide underrepresented communities with meaningful opportunities to have their voices heard.

The initiative contributed to greater awareness of dignity, equality, diversity, and rights-based reporting within local media.
