MDH implemented this initiative to strengthen understanding of freedom of expression, press freedom, professional responsibilities, and constructive cooperation between journalists and security institutions.
The programme brought together 25 journalists and members of the Galmudug Police to examine the legal and professional principles governing freedom of expression, independent media, public accountability, and the respective responsibilities of journalists and police officers.
Through facilitated discussions, practical exercises, and experience-sharing sessions, participants explored real-life challenges affecting media–police relations and identified constructive approaches to improving communication, mutual understanding, and professional conduct.
The initiative contributed to strengthening trust and cooperation between media professionals and law-enforcement institutions while promoting greater respect for press freedom and journalists’ professional responsibilities.
