Strengthening Human Rights Reporting for Journalists

Three participants seated together at a training table, papers in front of them

MDH implemented a targeted capacity-building initiative to strengthen the knowledge and professional skills of journalists reporting on human rights issues in the Galgaduud Region.

The programme engaged 20 journalists from different districts and introduced participants to fundamental human rights principles, ethical journalism, responsible reporting practices, and the role of the media in promoting public awareness of human rights.

Through practical discussions and case-based learning, participants examined real situations encountered in their professional work and explored approaches to producing accurate, ethical, responsible, and rights-based journalism.

The initiative contributed to strengthening the capacity of local journalists to report on human rights issues with greater professionalism, sensitivity, and accountability.
