Digital Peace, Hate Speech and Responsible Social Media Engagement Project

MDH implemented this project to promote responsible digital communication and reduce the harmful effects of hate speech, misinformation, disinformation, and inflammatory online narratives.

The initiative engaged media practitioners, social media influencers, youth, and digital content creators through practical capacity-building and awareness activities focused on conflict-sensitive communication, fact-checking, digital safety, responsible social media use, and positive peace-oriented messaging.

Particular attention was given to reducing the amplification of inflammatory and identity-based content that could contribute to community or clan tensions.

The project strengthened participants’ ability to identify harmful digital content, communicate responsibly, and use their online influence to promote constructive dialogue, tolerance, social cohesion, and peace.
