Conflict-Sensitive Media and Social Cohesion Capacity-Building Project

MDH implemented this project to strengthen conflict-sensitive journalism, responsible digital communication, and social cohesion among journalists, youth representatives, community actors, and other local stakeholders in Hirshabelle State.

The project strengthened participants’ understanding of hate speech, inflammatory language, misinformation, disinformation, conflict dynamics, ethical journalism, and responsible reporting in politically and socially sensitive environments.

Capacity-building and community engagement activities promoted fact-checking, responsible social media use, peace-oriented communication, and the development of constructive narratives that support dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

The initiative also increased awareness of the important role that traditional and digital media can play either in escalating tensions or in supporting conflict prevention, peacebuilding, and stronger community relations.
